Hi, I’m Brent—also known as Garden Daddy. I’m originally from Kansas City (and no, I didn’t grow up on a farm), but I’ve always had a curiosity for nature and growing things. I recently moved to Toronto to be closer to family, and when I bought my house in Alderwood, Etobicoke, it came with two worn-out garden beds in the yard. Two months later, I was elbows-deep in soil—and just like that, the obsession took root.

As a proudly gay gardener, I bring a little extra flair, creativity, and humor to everything I grow—because why shouldn’t your veggies be thriving and fabulous?

Since then, gardening has completely flipped my world—in the best way. It grounded me, connected me to my food and community, and gave me purpose I didn’t know I was craving. I’ve since built an incredible network across Toronto’s gardening scene, filled with local suppliers, experts, and partners I learn from (and occasionally gossip with at the nursery).

Now I’m here to help you grow. Whether you’re intimidated by the idea of a raised bed, confused by when to start planting, or just want to stop buying sad grocery store lettuce—I’ve got you. I’ll help you simplify the process, build confidence, and get to a place where growing your own food feels natural, rewarding, and fun. Through custom coaching, seasonal planning, and 1:1 support, I’m on a mission to get more Toronto gardens blooming—and to help you go months without buying salad greens.
